Swedish digital media school Hyper Island, supported by The Enhancement Fund - which is funded by both Yorkshire Forward and the European Social Fund, co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency - is to host two short-term courses in the region starting in September.

The two organisations will put funding towards the courses, ensuring that the cost of participation has been lowered.

The courses will run parallel with one another and be delivered in central Leeds across six days over a three-month-period.

The Accidental Leader Course has been devised for executive leaders of creative organisations, while the second course, The Accidental Manager, is aimed at key figures within management.

“The North of England is a fertile ground for creative businesses, with significant clusters of design, new and interactive media content, platform development, television and major cultural institutions. The region has a history of nurturing and developing creative talent, however sustaining an ecology of this kind requires dynamic leadership from people who can identify the link between creativity, wellbeing, productivity, and profitability. Our courses provide participants with the tools to do this, and to re-imagine and transform their business for the industry of tomorrow,” explained David McCall, co-director of Hyper Island.
