The Manchester Publicity Association will hire its first paid employee in its 90-year history after starting a search to find a managing director.

The organisation, which represents the city's creative, digital, film and media sectors, says it will "undergo significant changes over the next few months" which will be spearheaded by the new MD.

The chosen candidate will act as an ambassador for the MPA with "key organisations" in the north west, including North West Vision and Media, the NWDA, Manchester City Council, the IoD and Pro Manchester.

They will also be expected to forge links between the MPA and "key infrastructure projects" such as Media City, The Hive and The Sharp Project.

Their ultimate aim will be to "create partnerships and advocates and maintain successful, productive relationships with agency and media heads across the region".

Mike Perls, chairman of the MPA, said: “We are looking for an extremely dynamic, high calibre individual with the mind of an entrepreneur, the ambassadorial skills of a diplomat and the motivation of an Olympian."

The MPA is also looking to find an events manager to handle up to three events a week.
