The British National Party has removed the image of the Marmite jar that it had placed in its party political broadcast following Unilever's decision to place an injunction against the use of the image, which it had not given permission for the party to use.

The original video featured party leader Nick Griffin, sitting at a desk with the offending jar hovering in the left hand corner. It was thought that the BNP had used the jar in reference to a recent Marmite campaign which the party had claimed spoofed its previous campaign videos.

The video has since been reissued on the BNP website, without the jar in sight, although the party has refused to explain why it has chosen to remove the image, having ignored The Drum's request for a comment.
