Celtic Football Club has confirmed to The Drum that Mike Donoghue, new business director at Edinburgh marketing agency Story, is to join Celtic as its head of marketing and sponsorship.

Donoghue will begin his new role on 3 May, having worked at Story for the past four years, having also worked at WWAV Rapp Collins, The Leith Agency and Saatchi & Saatchi in the past.

The role will see Donoghue overseeing the club's marketing function and he will also have responsibility for managing existing sponsorship arrangements and developing new sponsorship opportunities.

Donoghue said: "I am delighted to be joining an organisation of Celtic's stature. I am excited about joining the team at Celtic Park and look forward to doing all I can to make a significant contribution to the marketing and sponsorship activities of the club."

Story has said that it will look to fill the new business role vacated by Donoghue.
