Thompson designs FLASH public art project book
Thompson Brand Partners has designed a book to promote the FLASH public art project in South Tyneside.
FLASH, created by the artist Charles Quick, is a series of sculptures fitted with LED light sequences alongside the River Tyne. It has been designed to mark the area's industrial past.
Leeds-based Thompson has created a new book to tell the story of the project and highlight what the sculptures mean to the community.
Joshua Millar, senior designer at Thompson Brand Partners, said: “We relished the open brief and fantastic subject matter. The FLASH project gave us the challenge to physically represent the sculpture and the project journey.
"We wanted the book to physically represent both the art and the community involvement. One element of this was to use scale laser foil circles to replicate the casing of the sculptures.”
The latest part of the public art project is FLASH@Hebburn, which saw many local residents invited to design their own creative light sequences to reflect the emotions of people that used to work in the area or use the river for leisure.
