Cheltenham advertising agency Factor 3 has appointed Steve Lauder to its newly-created role of head of digital.

Lauder, who started working in IT straight out of education, began building websites in the 1990s and has been running his own web development company, Media Eden, since 2005.

He said: "A strong grounding in systems and processes has been invaluable as the web has ‘exploded’ and is now a vital skill in the marketing and advertising industry. I felt it was time to join a larger, more creative agency and utilise my skills more fully, for the highest pedigree of clients.”

His appointment means Factor 3 has an in-house digital head for the first time.

The agency's client services director, Nick Fairburn, said: "In the past we have used a stable of external partners to help provide an online solution. But the ever increasing significance of online marketing and commerce within the whole communications mix requires a more cohesive and integral service."
