Scottish and Southern Energy is understood to be reviewing its UK advertising strategy and looks set to appoint a London-ad agency.

The company is understood to be speaking London agencies about making a retained appointment having worked with Scottish agencies such as The Union, Story and The Gate Worldwide for marketing across its different divisions.

It has been reported by the London press that existing relationships with the client will be unaffected by the eventual appointment.

It is thought that the move to London will see it look to create a broader communications strategy across the UK.

A report last week discovered that the Scottish advertising industry had lost 80% of its business over the last 20 years, with clients either moving their accounts out of the country or cutting their marketing spend.
