To tie in with the launch of the new film Kick-Ass, Manchester's magneticNorth has collaborated with Universal Pictures to develop an interactive ‘Superhero Yourself’ game.

The game, which is unlocked by the user via an Augmented Reality marker, allows the player to dress themselves up in the superhero costumes of the movies characters, pose and share their outfits across social media channels.

The games concept of helping the public become super-heroes is rooted in the film’s plot, which sees the characters played by Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Chris Mintz Plasse decide to do just this despite having no special powers or training.

Players start the game by using an Augmented Reality marker which they position in front of their webcam and then are invited to dress up in the costumes and accessories of the film's four key characters ‘Kick-Ass’, ‘Red Mist’, ‘Hit Girl’ and ‘Big Daddy’. They are then able to post their pictures out to friends via Facebook and Twitter.

The game sits on the film’s official UK site and the marker to play is also available to print on the site.

On Saturday 27th the UK’s Guardian Guide magazine will also include the AR marker as part of their editorial feature on the Kick-Ass film.

Lisa Towey, national publicity manager, Universal Pictures, said: "Let’s be honest, at some point in their lives everyone has dreamt of being a superhero haven’t they? The game provides a fun way for the public to play an interactive dress up game, assume the roles of the Kick-Ass characters and share their results out across social media."

mN creative director Brendan Dawes added: "It has been great working with Universal Pictures to create a game so rooted in the film’s storyline. We love the idea that the public can have a go at becoming superheroes without having to leave their living room or having their asses kicked by Nicolas Cage."

The film directed by Matthew Vaughn and produced by Brad Pitt is released nationally on the 26th March.
