PR agency Weber Shandwick North has donated £1,000 towards the Pledge My Seat fundraising campaign.

The Pledge My Seat campaign sees brand new football boots sent to disadvantaged children in South Africa for every seat purchased in a virtual, online stadium.

Jamie Tosh, co-founder of Kick4change, the social enterprise behind the fundraising campaign, said: "Our overall target is to send 94,700 pairs of brand new football boots to South Africa which represents the capacity of the World Cup final stadium, so while we can’t rest on our laurels as we’ve still got a way to go, this pledge really kicks things off."

Jo Leah, managing director at Weber Shandwick North, added: “I was fortunate to visit South Africa in 2009 and experience first hand the sense of excitement the township communities have towards sport and the World Cup in particular.

“We hope our donation may help improve their daily lives in some way and we encourage other businesses in the region to play their part by purchasing virtual seats. Not only will South African townships benefit from the boot donations, but UK grassroots initiatives will also see a direct benefit from pledges with all profits going back to schools or UK charities.”
