Some sensitive craft handling turned the eyes of the Roses Advertising Awards judges and Chairman Trevor Beattie hinted about where his future might lie.

Speaking during a short break in the judging Beattie, who heads up advertising agency Beattie McGuinness Bungay and has recently won a BAFTA for producing the film Moon, said: "Looking at the work we have seen so far then I'd say that creativity is alive and well in the north and Scotland, despite the tough times we have all faced recently. I would have to say that I have been really impressed by some of the craft we have seen in the work here today, there have been some really beautiful and well considered pieces of work."

During the judging Beattie also hinted that his future may not lie in advertising for too much longer.

He said: "I'm determined to become more involved in film projects. I am already working on a second film with (director) Duncan Jones and we are working towards a really big third picture. The first two are going to pay for the third. So it is going to be an interesting journey for me and if advertising wants to come with me then that's great."

Also sitting on the Roses Advertising Awards panel were Dave Waters of Watermill, Rob Messeter of DDB, Tony Hardcastle of AMV BBDO, Johan Tesch of BBH and David Prideaux of Publicis.
