British Airways has released a video campaign featuring its chief executive, Willie Walsh, criticising the strike action by 12,000 cabin crew set to take place next weekend.

The video, uploaded to ba.com and YouTube, shows Walsh talking to camera and saying how "very disappointed" he is with the decision to strike by trade union Unite.

Meanwhile rival airline bmi has moved to take advantage of the walkout with a tactical press campaign.

Its ad shows a traffic light depicting BA on the stop light and bmi on go. The copy says: "Strike? What strike? It's still all go at bmi."
