The Drum has learned that Nick Ramshaw, the former MD of Elmwood Leeds, has been appointed the new managing director of Thompson Brand Partners.

Ramshaw, whose exit from Elmwood was announced last November, replaces departing Thompson MD, Phil Dean, who leaves this week.

He joins the Leeds agency immediately and will work closely with the business's founder, Ian Thompson, to meet the goals of a five-year business plan.

In the new setup Ramshaw will take charge of all client and business aspects, leaving Thompson to concentrate on the creative side of his agency.

Ramshaw said he had been speaking to "lots" of people about job opportunities since leaving Elmwood but Thompson was his number one choice.

He said: "Over the last few months, since I decided to leave Elmwood, I have been speaking to lots of potential partners and employers. Thompson Brand Partners was always at the very top of my list, and I’m extremely excited now that Ian and I have agreed the basis on which we will be working together.

"Thompson is already a fantastic agency, with great people and a product of the very highest quality, and it will be my job to help take it on to the next level. Its a fantastic job that I can’t wait to get my teeth into.”

Thompson said the appointment sees his agency move into an "exciting phase".

“After over 20 years in this business, I am still extremely ambitious and have big plans for Thompson Brand Partners. In Nick, I have a Managing Director with the experience, ideas and personality to help me and the team achieve all of our objectives, and to fulfill our vision of the future," Thompson said.

Thompson Brand Partners is a member of the Marketing Industry Network.
