Carling has signed a three-year deal to become the official beer of Scottish Rugby and the team's Murrayfield Stadium.

The sponsorship deal will see Carling's branding feature heavily at Murrayfield on billboards, LED pitch-side advertising, bars inside and outside the ground and on staff uniforms.

Scottish Rugby's chief executive, Gordon McKie, said: "In a challenging economic climate we welcome Carling as the official beer of Scottish Rugby and Murrayfield Stadium.

"This partnership is important, not just because it extends our portfolio of quality sponsors, but also because Carling shares our desire to promote a message of responsible drinking."

Earlier today Molson Coors, which owns the Carling brand, announced that Muller's Chris McDonough would be its new marketing director.

Carling is the current sponsor of Glasgow football giants Celtic and Rangers, a deal which lager rival Tennent's is set to take over when it expires this summer.
