David Craik, head of marketing for internet publisher s1 has left the business after nearly ten years to begin a freelance consultancy.

Craik, who joined the company in 2000 and saw the brand nominated as Best Scottish Brand Ever at the 2007 Scottish Advertising Awards, will now work through his consultancy Bright Digital Marketing with clients including s1’s parent group Newsquest, Herald & Times Group.

He also plans to work with companies Inner Ear and Radio Magnetic on projects along with ‘a couple of larger’ projects and music related projects, which he will discuss in the future.

Craik explained: “The nature of the emerging digital marketing mix and some of the skills it demands can be difficult to facilitate within a traditional client or agency structure. I'll have the flexibility to take on projects from a few days to several months and to operate in either an advisory or a hands on capacity. Hopefully that'll suit clients and agencies who need to scale up on a project basis, or who simply need to understand what the digital mix should look like for them before implementing in-house.”

In a seperate move, the role of marketing manager at s1 will be taken on by Wendy Pauley, direct marketing manager at s1 for nearly three years.

Pauley was previously a marketing manager with Abbey.
