The Scottish Government has been running a public information campaign relaying advice on how to deal with the extreme weather across press and radio as well as local and national PR through its website.

The campaign was created in a quick turnaround period by The Leith Agency, with media being handled by Mediacom Scotland to advise householders and motorists on how to cope with the severe winter weather.

Roger Williams, head of marketing and new media at Scottish Government, said;

“This is a good example of an integrated communications campaign and was put together very quickly to react to the unexpectedly severe weather conditions. Our own PR, marketing and online professionals worked seamlessly with Ministerial Communications teams and our external agencies to ensure the Scottish public received the best possible advice on how to cope with the ‘Big Freeze’ and consequently the thaw.

“It’s rewarding to see our Strategic Marketing and Communications teams working in parallel and under pressure to deliver a high profile public information campaign”.
