Welcome to Yorkshire has issued a tender for its £2m domestic regional tourism campaign due to run in April. McCann Manchester tells The Drum it will re-tender.

McCann Erickson Manchester handled Yorkshire's marketing and promotions campaign this year, but the county's tourism body is now looking for an agency to handle its 2010 campaign.

The tender calls for a “full service agency solution covering strategic planning, creative, media planning and buying, campaign evaluation and research, with online expertise and television production".

It says the account is worth £2m each financial year and that it may be treated on an annual rolling basis from April until the end of March 2011 - although if renewed the contract will last for three years in total.

Five agencies at most will be asked to pitch.

When McCann Manchester was appointed to handle the campaign this year its relationship with the client looked to be long-term as the agency opened an office in Yorkshire to handle the work.

A spokesperson for McCann Manchester today confirmed the agency will re-tender for the business.

More information about the tender, and its pre-qualification questionnaire, are available on the Welcome to Yorkshire website.
