Public relations consultancy, The BIG Partnership, has been appointed to work with Transport Scotland to drive forward communications on Scotland’s most significant roads infrastructure projects.

The agency will provide integrated communications support to Transport Scotland for the Scottish Government’s portfolio of major road contracts, including the high profile Forth Replacement Crossing project (pictured) and a number of motorway schemes.

Transport Scotland is the national transport agency for Scotland and is currently delivering one of the biggest transport investment programmes Scotland has ever seen.

The contract, which runs from January 2010 to mid-2012, was secured following a competitive pitch between the Scottish Government’s roster agencies under the terms of the Scottish Government marketing services framework contract. The new contract replaces a number of individual contracts and was revised following a review to deliver efficiencies and improve quality of service.

The win will see The BIG Partnership continue its communications and stakeholder engagement work on the Forth Replacement Crossing, which it has worked on since 2007, supporting public consultations and community engagement on the project during the planning phase and the recent introduction of the Forth Crossing Bill in the Scottish Parliament.

Neil Gibson, director of The BIG Partnership said: “Having worked with Transport Scotland for up to four years now on major projects such as the Forth Crossing and Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, we are delighted to be extending our remit with the agency through this new contract.

“Transport Scotland is responsible for delivering the most strategically important infrastructure developments in Scotland currently and we are looking forward to working closely with the agency’s in-house communications team to manage communications to a wide range of stakeholders on these high profile public projects.”

The projects will be handled by teams from The BIG Partnership’s offices in Glasgow and Fife and directed by Account Directors Kathryn McKee, Allan Buchan and Gavin Cameron.
