Edinburgh based Story has devised a new charity donation campaign ahead of Christmas having created a website which holds a wish-list of items from grassroots charities and local organisations.

The site allows the charities to place a list of the things that they cannot afford but need in the hope that, instead of donations of money, people will pledge these items instead.

The wishes already placed on the site included reconditioned digital cameras, illustrations, kitten food and children’s gym equipment. There is even a request for practical help from photographers, media owners or the creative community.

In building the site, Story contacted a list of charities, principally through their existing connections with organisations such as Oxfam, Bfriends, Contact the Elderly and Fresh Start.

The agency was also put in touch with a range of homeless and adult literacy projects through CLAN, Edinburgh’s City Literacy and Numeracy Group.

Sue Mullen, managing director for Story, explained: “We recognise that it’s been a particularly tough year for everyone, but for small charities and projects it’s been particularly difficult. A number of our staff do voluntary work with these organisations, and they know first hand what amazing work is being done on extremely tight budgets. Hopefully, the ‘ihave’ website will provide a bit of essential kit and support where and when it’s needed most.”
