Production company The Gate Films has announced that following the growth of the company Steve Byrne is to take on the role of managing director as Simon Lewis chooses to return to directing on a full time basis once again.

Byrne’s new business role will be filled by Eirian Collinge who will also be the first point of contact for creatives and agency producers for TV and online scripts.

Sarah Jarvis will remain in the role of head of production while Kulvinder Tank will join the Manchester office as assistant producer and more appointments are expected to be made by the end of January.

Byrne explained the changes: "We’ve only been able to make the changes because of the growth we’ve experienced as a business over the last 12 months. The success we’ve worked so hard for – in really tough times - means that we’ve been able to bring in more people to better service our clients across the UK and those roles just require more hands on management. Simon’s passion for filmmaking always meant that he wanted to go back to full time directing at some point and, now that he can, he returns to an enviable roster comprising established names and some of the hottest new directing talent in the country. My aim is simply to continue his work in making sure the Gate Films constantly strives to exceed client expectations and delivers a first class production service every time."

In October The Gate Films Edinburgh office appointed David Nielson as production co-ordinator.
