Founder and former managing director of 1576, David Reid has been appointed as marketing director for Border Biscuits.

The part-time role will allow Reid to continue to honour his other commitments which includes marketing mentor for The Marketing Industry Network, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and as a board director of Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Reid explained: " I am really enjoying the diversity of things I'm working on at the moment. I have my own clients where I offer strategic marketing advice and others where I return to my creative roots, creating ads and writing commercials. One of these even got an award at the recent Scottish Advertising Awards, but looking for accreditation for things like that no longer interests me.”

He continued: “The opportunity to work for Border, Britain's fastest growing biscuit manufacturer came out of the blue when they recently heard me delivering a talk on how clients should use agencies at the Barr's Irn Bru headquarters. It is slightly strange being on the other side of the table, having creative work presented to you, but hugely enjoyable, because I can really appreciate the complexity of answering briefs".
