Mason Williams is the latest PR firm to announce it has boosted its digital offer after it confirmed the acquisition of Brand Attention.

The Manchester and London-based PR agency already held a 50 percent stake in Brand Attention after buying into the digital firm in 1999 and it has now rebranded the agency as Mason Williams Digital after taking full control.

Brand Attention's five staff will move from their current base in Hitchin to the PR firm's London office in Shoreditch.

John Williams, who assumes the role of managing director, said: "This isn’t a token 'social media' guy stuck in the corner – it’s a properly staffed and highly sophisticated digital department moved into the centre of our busines.

“Over ten years ago we were engaged in Search when everyone thought we were crazy. Now the rest of the world has caught up and the need for a separate identity is gone.”

Brand Attention, founded in 1998, specialised in search, web design, social media marketing and mobile phone applications.

Existing clients include BUPA, Budget Insurance Group, Manchester Hospitals, Isle of Man Tourist Board, Liverpool ONE and Radisson Edwardian.

As Mason Williams' digital division it will have some standalone accounts but it will also work with its new owner's clients, the agency said.

Earlier this month fellow Manchester PR agency Tangerine announced that it had acquired Juice Digital.
