Tangerine PR has announced that it has acquired fellow Manchester agency Juice Digital, which specialises in social media marketing.

Headed by former Paver Downes man Steve Downes, Juice Digital will now become a division of Tangerine, but will retain its brand. Its new owner said it will "invest in growing it into the leading social media specialist outside London".

Sandy Lindsay (pictured), Tangerine's group MD, said the acquisition gives "extra strength and depth" to the agency's social media offer, adds experience to the senior management team with the arrival of Steve Downes and brings a "very busy new business pipeline".

Lindsay said in a statement: “We have spotted an increasing trend whereby companies have expressed an interest in purchasing the services of a specialist social media team, over and above other PR and marketing services already in place, in order to capitalise on this vital area of audience targeting.

"Juice Digital, as well as supporting other client offers, will enable us to capitalise on this trend.”

Downes said he had been speaking to "a number of agencies about where to site Juice" before sealing the deal with Tangerine.

"I’ve also been following Tangerine’s growth over the past few years and know that it is a dynamic company that’s always at the forefront of any market development," Downes said.

"I’m delighted to now be part of this leading team and am looking forward to working with Sandy and her team to move Juice to the next level," he added.

Juice's team will move from the agency's current Hyde base to Tangerine's Castlefield home this month.
