Newcastle-based Different has launched a new TV campaign for Balance's Regional Alcohol Office North East, to coincide today with national Alcohol Awareness Week.

The two TV adverts running on ITV1 Tyne Tees region are supported by radio and poster advertising, with the aim of making drinkers reconsider the impact of excessive drinking on their friends and families.

The campaign was written by Mick McCabe and art directed by Simon Storey. Mark Martin creative directed. The TV ads were directed by Ewan Stewart through MTP in Glasgow. The campaign follows Different’s work for the Big Drink Debate previously for Balance.

Balance is the North East of England’s alcohol office – and the first of its kind in the UK.

Balance seeks to inspire changes in the way we think about and drink alcohol in order to encourage people to enjoy a good time but reduce their consumption. Ultimately the aim is to have happier, healthier people living in safer communities across the North East. Region. Funded by North East primary care trusts, the Department of Health, the Home Office and local police forces it is the first regional office of its kind to tackle alcohol-related issues in a cross-cutting way. Balance brings together a wide range of organisations involved in people’s alcohol use, including health services, police, voluntary agencies and local authorities.

PR support for the campaign will be provided by Gardiner Richardson.
