Mary Harper has been appointed as head of Line Digital’s new strategy division after a string of new client wins created the need for a new offering for the Edinburgh agency.

Harper recently joined the digital specialist having previously worked on projects for some of Australia’s leading companies such as National Rugby League and Pacific Brands when she was director of Chisholm & Harper, a leading digital strategy consultancy in Melbourne.

Previous to this she held a senior position in the online consulting team at Eclipse, Australia’s largest digital agency.

The new strategy division at Line has been formed in response to the company’s recent acquisition of several new EMEA contracts, an increase in digital spend from existing clients. The agency also hopes to move away from being seen as a design, build and marketing team, to that of a “digital partner”.

Ross Laurie, managing director of Line, said: “As a business, we have to continue to invest in the best people if we want to be the best at what we do. The business has grown at a steady and consistent rate in recent years despite the recession and we have been investing in all areas to strengthen our team.

"The new Strategy Division we have formed is very much a statement to the market that we are ready to take the traditional “digital agency” to the next level and we see this as one of our USPs going forward.

"Mary’s credentials and reputation are impeccable and she has been a fantastic acquisition. In the 6 weeks she has been with us we have seen a welcoming response from our clients. This is very encouraging as the opportunities that change affords can be very tricky for larger organisations to capture but Mary is already proving to be an invaluable asset to our clients. It is very much our intention to grow this side of the business over the next financial year and I am confident that Mary can push both Line and our clients up to new levels of excellence”

Harper added: “When I decided to move back to Scotland after nine years I wasn’t optimistic about the state of the digital industry north of the border, then I found Line – a world-class digital agency that I truly believe is going places. It’s a very exciting time for the business. Our excellent track record has helped us build a real sense of trust with our clients and this has opened up some fantastic opportunities to grow our strategic offering.

"My job is to make sure our clients are well-placed to tackle the digital challenges that lie ahead. We will continue to offer cutting-edge digital design, development and marketing that will be underpinned by a coherent strategy to further increase the return on investments made by our clients. I’m delighted to be at Line and am inspired by the management team’s vision, commitment and determination to grow the business on a global scale despite the economic conditions we are currently facing. It feels great to be part of something this exciting!”
