The Blackpool Tower has been moved around a little over the last week, making its way to Leeds and Manchester with the aid of Amaze PR.

The Manchester office of the marketing services company was tasked by VisitBlackpool with the promotion of the beachside town and used a 200 foot high projection of the Tower to lead the way in its delivery.

The Tower was projected, unannounced, onto local landmarks through the use of a mobile rig and was used as a reminder that the town’s illuminations, which were this year lit by comedian Alan Carr, will continue until 8 November.

Natalie Wyatt, head of visitBlackpool, said: “For those people who still haven’t managed to get to Blackpool to see the Illuminations and our fantastic sound and light show Brilliance, we thought we would bring some illuminated magic to them as an idea of what they will see.

“This is a great way of giving people a taster of what they can expect at this electrifying show, and with just four weeks remaining we look forward to brightening up the lives of everyone visiting the Lights this year.”

Sandra McDowell, partner, Amaze PR, said: “We have been working with Blackpool on the regeneration and promotion of the resort since January. The recent focus has been on promotion of some of the great events taking place in the town. We’ve hope we’ve injected innovative and creative ideas to encourage people to take a fresh look at the emerging Blackpool.”

It is possible that the projection may be used in other cities to promote Blackpool in the future.
