The Marketing Industry Network will next week host a talk by Kenneth Roman about Advertising legend David Ogilvy.

Roman is Ogilvy’s first biographer whose book ‘The King of Madison Avenue: David Ogilvy and the Making of Modern Advertising’ hit shelves earlier this year. In this Business Briefing Roman will take us inside Ogilvy’s mind and his world and offer some unique insights into the man gained by years working alongside the advertising giant.

Attendees will be invited to question the author on the man who created modern advertising and developed many of the principles through which the industry has been built.

Roman will also have many thoughts to bring to the session about the state of the industry today.

A former chairman and chief executive of Ogilvy & Mather, Roman joined the agency in 1963 and spent 26 years with O&M. On leaving the agency in 1989 he went to work with American Express in a senior communications role becoming a board director and author. He has also advised PriceWaterhouse and served on a number of boards, most notably Compaq Computer, Brunswick and Gartner.

He has written two books - How To Advertise and Writing That Works.

The event takes place on 1 October at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh.
