The General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) has appointed The BIG Partnership to the 2011 Census publicity campaign.

Budgeted at around £100,000, the PR aim is to maximise public understanding of and involvement in the 2011 Census Scotland-wide.

A GROS spokeswoman said: "2011 Census publicity needs to reach every household in Scotland. We chose The BIG Partnership proposal because of its strategic understanding of the task, ideas to reach our audiences and because it offered the best value for taxpayers. The evaluation team was impressed by the high quality of all the proposals it received."

Allan Buchan, BIG Partnership senior account director, added: “We will bring our extensive public sector expertise and knowledge of community engagement programmes to ensure the campaign achieves its objectives.”

The BIG Partnership’s appointment by GROS marks the latest contract win for its public sector division, formed recently to harness its specialist expertise in this area for existing and new clients.

The 2011 Census publicity campaign was tendered as part of the Scottish Government’s central framework for the provision of marketing services.
