Edinburgh’s Storm Ideas has been promoting Twitter celebrations worldwide, using its viral web application, Twibbon.

As official partners with Twestival, Twibbon hosts customised profile image overlays for every city promoting the festival across the globe, which can be uploaded by users of the social networking website.

Alongside brands like Mashable and Live Earth, Twibbon have been responsible for increasing the worldwide event's visibility to internet users. Over recent weeks, response from the online community has been excellent, with 'Twestival Mexico City' having recruited the most supporters.

The local evening events, which each raise money for a charity decided by each city's Twitter users, will take place between 10 and 13 September.

Storm Ideas co-founder Bob Thomson commented: "It's really exciting to finally get to the event itself after everyone's hard work on this project. Twestival is a wonderful idea that connects and genuinely helps people all over the world, and it's a privilege to be part of it."

Storm Ideas will be attending the local Twestival Event, EdTwestival, on September 10 to be held at Electric Circus in Edinburgh. All proceeds from this event will go towards CLIC Sargent. It’s not too late to lend your support, go to http://twibbon.com.

Almost 300,000 Twitter users have expressed their support through Twibbon since the site’s launch on 17 July.
