Northwest Vision and Media, which works on behalf of the region's digital and creative industries, has appointed Simon Alexander as its head of marketing.

Alexander, 33, joins the team from Manchester-based interactive design company magneticNorth and has eight years' experience in the digital marketing sector.

His role is a new position at the organisation created to replace the old communications director post.

Alexander will report to the director of business development and will be overseeing the overall communications and marketing strategy, working closely with delivery and research teams.

His task is to raise the organisation's overall profile and establish its aims and objectives in new and existing sectors.

The appointment follows Northwest Vision and Media's recent restructure, which saw it appoint Paul Taylor as director of business delivery in July this year.

Taylor said: "We have a vast amount of activity planned for the future and Simon arrives at an exciting time. His extensive experience in digital marketing allows us to further promote the work we do and help to put the North West on the map as a centre of excellence for the creative and digital industries."

Alexander added: "I'm really excited to be joining the team and I will be working hard to promote the expert training, funding and industry support we deliver to companies and individuals in the North West.

"For an organisation like Northwest Vision and Media, we must be judged on what we do, and so communicating the opportunities and successes to our industries, as well as just being present and useful in those industries is what we'll be concentrating our efforts on."

Last month, Code Computerlove's Tony Foggett was appointed to NWVM's board.
