Falkirk Council has appointed GRP to its Smarter Choices, Smarter Places project which is being sponsored by the COSLA and the Scottish Government.

Following a three-way-pitch, the agency been tasked with managing the ongoing campaign through until 2011 which will include outdoor, press and experiential activities which will be coordinated alongside national awareness events and ongoing sponsorship activities throughout the area.

Falkirk Council is taking part in this project which will look to increase the use of public transport in a bid to lover transport emissions and contribute towards a number of objective in the Scottish Government’s National Performances Framework and Local Authorities Single Outcome Agreements.

The campaign began in 2008 when Stewart Stevenson, Transport Minister announced the initiative to provide funding on a matched basis to create a series of sustainable travel demonstation communities across Scotland.

Guy Robertson of GRP, explained: “This is a great opportunity for us to deliver a wide range of marketing activities aimed at making behavioural changes which will persuade people to get out of their cars and use more sustainable forms of travel such as trains, buses, walking or cycling. We all abuse the facilities that we take for granted, reducing the many benefits that more sustainable options provide.

“GRP works with NHSScotland on a number of successful Social Marketing and health related projects and our experience in this area has delivered excellent results for our clients. This project is another fantastic opportunity for us to contribute further towards changing public attitude and encouraging healthier options.”
