Scottish broadcaster STV is to join with NetPlay TV as they launch the first interactive casino channel on Scottish digital TV.

The two will alunch the channel which will see STV broadcast NetPlay’s interactive casino shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from next month.

NetPlay TV operates a number of live interactive TV shows including SuperCasino.com and ChallengeJackpot.com. The shows allow viewers to interact with the TV programme, placing real cash bets on ‘live’ casino and bingo events including a live roulette wheel, spun by a real croupier, and live Blackjack.

The move was made possible following Ofcom’s alteration of the rules around public service broadcasting which enables viewers to place bets on casino games.

David Archer, managing director of STV, explained: "The recent Ofcom ruling in June 2009 has allowed us to explore new revenue generating options and we have moved quickly to take advantage of this opportunity to offer an exciting new service to STV viewers.

"NetPlay TV has been able to provide us with a fully regulated service that its players clearly enjoy and we are very pleased to be working in partnership with them."
