Symington's appoints former Arla marketers as managers

Leeds based food company Symington’s which owns brand such as Ainsley Harriott, Mug Shots and Granose has appointed two new marketing managers.

David Cherrie (pictured) joins having left Cravendale in February where he was brand manager.

He has previous worked at Arla brand Lactofree, where he was also brand manager.

Gemma Hicks also joins from Arla having works as new product development manager for 18months.

Hicks began her career at an atomic weapons establishment she moved to Proctor & Gamble where she spent nine years working in Product Design for Olay Skin Care, Max Factor and Covergirl Cosmetics.

Both Hicks and Cherrie have been tasked by Symington’s to strengthen and increase the company’s brand portfolio. As well as planning and implementing marketing initiatives Cherrie and Hicks will be heavily involved in new product development.

They will report into marketing director Henrik Pade.

Cherrie said, “Symington’s is a great place to be right now – we have some very exciting initiatives on the table that are set to really shake up the FMCG arena in the coming months.

Hicks added, “NPD is one area where we’re really going to be making waves in the second half of 2009. Naturally, we’ll be rolling out a number of stand-out supporting marketing initiatives that should make for some big headlines.”
