Hair styling brand ghd has appointed Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R as its advertising agency, following a pitch in which incumbent TBWA\Manchester chose not to pitch after holding the account for two years.

It is understood that London agencies MCBD, Grey and Atelier made up the pitch list while Fallon was also involved in the early stages.

Fergus McCallum, CEO of TBWA\Manchester explained his reasons for not repitching for the account at the time.

He said: "I can confirm that we won't be re-pitching for the ghd business, but will continue to support their requirements over the next few months as they look for new agency partners.

“The team that has worked on ghd over the past two and a half years has developed some fantastic work and I am immensely proud of their efforts over this period.

"We wish everyone at ghd continuing future success; but we move on - and we have already started the process of talking to potential new clients in the sector."

The pitch was called following the appointment of global brand director Guy Longworth at the beginning of year.
