A phone application to promote this year’s Glastonbury festival has been developed by Mubaloo in a bit to enhance the experience of the festival.

The application includes an interactive map of the festival featuring all the of sites and landmarks and allows for all of the main stages to be touched in order to display the band line-ups.

Users will also be able to listen and buy the songs through iTunes or add the band to their personalised festival schedule.

Once the festival has begun the application will use GPS to show users exactly where they are on the interactive map. It is also possible to drop signposts or markers to places they want to find again e.g. their tent, car, meeting place, food, clean toilet etc.

Mubaloo have also added some fun challenges for app users (e.g. ‘Glow in the dark!’) and the app prompts users to take pictures once they have completed these challenges.

The app ‘Glastonbury 2009’ will be available for download two weeks before Glastonbury through the iTunes App Store.

Versions for other festivals are in development, and future releases will help people find each other by sharing the location of signposts and GPS location.
