Former Love MD Alistair Sim is to join the board of Manchester design and branding agency The Chase.

Sim has been out of the industry since his resignation from Love in November, where his position had become "untenable" following a conviction for actual bodily harm.

But Ben Casey, co-founder and creative director of The Chase, said Sim's experience, "particularly in the digital arena", would prove valuable.

"Alistair possess all of the credentials to help take the business forward in the coming years, which is as important a consideration for us as the immediate advantages his appointment creates," Casey said.

"We're absolutely delighted to be bringing him on board at this time."

Sim is tasked with developing the agency's digital offer as well as working in a new business capacity. He takes up the role in June.

Speaking about his return, he said: "Ben and his team have built up one of the most successful creative businesses in the UK and I'm looking forward to contributing towards the next chapter in that story."

Rumours that Sim would be offered a way back into the industry with The Chase had begun to grow strong recently before being officially confirmed today.

After his departure from Love, which he co-founded in 2001, the agency promoted Richard Hall and Chris Conlan to joint managing directors. Sim remains a shareholder at Love.

The Chase, which was acquired by the Hasgrove group in 2006, also has offices in Preston and London. Its team of 40 works with clients including Astra Zeneca, The Co-operative Group and Swinton Insurance.
