Nottingham City Council’s bid to become World Design Capital 2012 has launched with a marketing campaign created by Lawrence & Pierce.

As a company that has worked within Nottingham’s design industry for over 20 years, marketing communications agency Lawrence & Pierce won the brief following fierce competition from several other agencies.

The agency's ‘i am *’ proposal was selected to front the bid opportunity.

Their eye-catching brand is designed to highlight that there is more to Nottingham than meets the eye, and will have resonance across the wide range of design disciplines that the city boasts, which vary from world-class cycle and swimsuit design to drug development.

A free- standing 3D brochure was sent to various design influences in the city, generating interest and awareness in the bid from supporters including Nottingham born designer Paul Smith. To create public excitement about the bid a Raleigh Chopper display was organised in the city centre, celebrating just one of many successful designs that has been created and developed in Nottingham.

Meanwhile, Nottingham is to play host to this year’s Roses Design Awards, the first time that the awards are to be held outside of Manchester for 11 years, following a deal with Invest in Nottingham which will act as lead sponsor.
