PR consultancy 3X1 has opened an office in Edinburgh and is now on a recruitment drive for account managers and account executives.

The office will be headed up by associate director Audrey Cassels and will service several new clients including VisitScotland’s Perfect Experiences campaign as well as the Fife Alcohol Partnership.

Cassels has more than 13 years’ consultancy experience across retail, property, consumer and B2B and has worked with market leaders including Boots, John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, AWG, Scottish Business in the Community, PRUPIM, Diageo, Glenmorangie and ScottishPower Renewables as well as having worked in-house at Rangers Football Club.

Julie McGarvey, director, said: “We decided to buck the trend and invest for growth since we’ve been working for an increasing number of Edinburgh - based clients. Audrey was the right partner for our expansion plans; she has a long standing relationship with the senior management team and is a highly experienced professional. Her breadth of skills and passion for PR will be a huge asset to the business.

“The first quarter of 2009 has genuinely been our busiest since we set up in 2001, as companies are recognising that they can get more value and flexibility from PR in this difficult economic climate. We’re on a recruitment drive and want to attract the best people to work in Edinburgh and build another winning team.”

In February Debbie Byers, associate director based in Glasgow, was appointed chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in Scotland.
