The first UK tourism site to be fully translated into French and German has launched, created by Edinbrugh digital agency Line.

The site, Welcome to Scotland (WTS) which launched ahead of the Easter holidays by Visitors Centres and Landmark Press, is reported to have cost around £250,000 and offers visitors to Scotland information to plan and book holidays, accomodation, find local attractions and seek activities taking place in the country.

Ross Laurie, managing director of Line explained: ““This initial launch has gone very well – the system was tested with some of WTS key partners (hotels etc) to ensure they were happy with the back-end functionality before going live.

"The fact that the system has been so well received by WTS customers is a great compliment – especially after all the issues that have been experienced by local advertisers with other Scottish tourism portals. We will continue to work with WTS on the next phases of the site’s evolution as we aim to establish WTS as the leading Scottish Tourism Portal."
