Former 2FluidCreative commercial director John Muir has joined D8 in the same role.

Before 2FluidCreative, Muir previously worked at Clayton Graham Communications and was a co-founder of digital agency ItsNotRocketScience.

He said: "D8 is a bit of a sleeping giant in the design industry but has a fantastic team, a wealth of awards and excellent clients such as the BBC, ScottishPower, Greenpeace, RMJM and Partick Thistle FC.

As commercial director, I am delighted to be at D8 and I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge here and bringing on more big name brands and clients for our Glasgow and Birmingham offices."

Meanwhile, D8's work with the BBC on the broadcaster's internal communications publication, PQ News, has won the best corporate communications award - after coming up against competition from Nokia and Daler-Rowney - at the MediaGuardian Innovation Awards.

Launched last year, the awards recognise and reward innovation across the media landscape.

PQ News was developed and designed for BBC staff as a communications tool that was part of the programme of cultural change, following the move to the new Pacific Quay headquarters.
