Martin appointed to board of directors for a:design

Mark Martin, creative director of Different has been appointed to the board of directors of a:design, the North East’s trade association which represents the design and creative industries.

Martin will join the board of the not-for-profit organisation having been selected thanks to his extensive work within the creative industry.

Board members are chosen based on their experience and come from a variety of creative disciplines.

a:design association works throughout the North East to create awareness of the economic benefits of design to the region’s wider business community, promoting best practice within the creative industries. The organisation also aims to inform, inspire and promote the use of good design and retain graduate talent from the region’s universities.

Martin said: “This is a great privilege for me as I am passionate about supporting the creative industries in the North East. As a board director I can now actively help to develop this sector in the region as it continues to be one of the fastest growing industries.”

Morag McLaren, business manager, from a:design, added: “It’s vital for the organisation that we have a mix of skills and experience amongst our board directors who are all highly respected figures from the creative sectors. Mark’s enthusiasm for his chosen profession will certainly help us to evolve and hopefully encourage more people to be part of one of the most exciting industries in the North East.”
