Kurt Jacobs, editor of Insider magazine is to become head of public relations at Marketing Birmingham.

Jacobs will take up the role of heading up the city’s marketing agency’s communications team of four from the beginning of next month.

Before Insider, Jacobs was previously editor of Adline and deputy business editor of The Birmingham Post.

Dave Hodgson, marketing director at Marketing Birmingham, said: “Getting Kurt to join us has been quite a coup. Insider is an incredibly well regarded publication. Kurt’s been working in Birmingham for 15 years and his understanding of the city, particularly its business community, is superb.

“He’ll bring a fresh sense of direction and drive in helping our PR team to promote Birmingham, not only to the rest of the UK, but internationally. It’s great to have him on board.”

Jacobs added: “I’ve had a wonderful time with Insider, where I’ve been enthusiastically batting for Birmingham. I’m leaving the magazine in good, capable hands with a new editor, Andy Coyne.

“However I’m relishing the challenge of promoting Birmingham on a completely new level. In the 15 years I’ve been in Birmingham I’ve seen the city transformed, and its people achieve incredible things. There are so many positive stories to tell about Birmingham, and I intend to make sure that the media hear them.”
