500 jobs are set to be cut as ITV looks to close its Yorkshire studios as part of cost cutting plans.

Filming on the channel’s prime time soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will come to a halt as staff join a conference call which will reveal the future of the network.

ITV will also reveal its annual financial results tomorrow which is expected to lead to at least 500 job losses, many of which are expected to be made to its production centres in Manchester and Leeds. This would leave 4,000 members of staff still operating at the company.

The company is unable to comment at time of writing due to being in a closed period ahead of the announcement of the financial results.
