The first stage of a new marketing campaign for the Manchester Museums Consortium is being rolled out to promote nine of the city’s main visitor attractions.

Created by Glorious, the two year campaign, which has been funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency will aim to attract tourists to the galleries and Museums of Manchester.

The first stage of the campaign will see the use of a series of vinyl pavement plaques each containing a cultural message and will direct visitors to check out the Consortiums new website.

Virginia Tandy, director of Culture for Manchester City Council and chair of Manchester Museums Consortium, said: "Manchester has a unique history of radical thought, subversive politics, invention and innovation – and that history has led to the kinds of provocative, engaging and challenging exhibitions and events that you can see in the city today. We want to make sure that everyone who comes to Manchester has the chance to get under the skin of the city, and to go away with an understanding of just what it is that makes it such a memorable place to live, work or visit."
