Ink, the Scottish animation collective, has signed to production company the Gate Films for commercials representation in the UK.

Known for its Roses award winning work for s1jobs, Ink's reel also boasts work for brands including Orange, the Scottish Government (pictured), Channel 4 and the BBC.

The company has a core team of six animators at its Dundee base and they share the responsibility for directing projects depending on the nature of the brief.

The Gate's Steve Byrne said: "We’re really pleased to have landed Ink as we know they had a good few offers on the table from other production companies vying for their talents.

"The standard of work they produce – across a range of different styles – is consistently brilliant and it’s no surprise that we already have a job in the pipeline for them."

A spokesperson for Ink said the animation firm needed to find a home at a production company in order to cope with both the features and commercial work that it is producing.

"Having spoken to a few companies, we found that the Gate shared our film making ethos and we really liked their current crop of directors on the roster," the spokesperson said.

In other news, the Gate is to host an evening of 'the best short films from the UK and beyond' in Manchester.

The Gate, which has offices in Manchester, Edinburgh and London, is encouraging creatives to come together for the evening of drinks and films dubbed 'Eat Our Shorts'.

It will be held on Wednesday 11 March and you can find out more information here.
