Festivals Edinburgh, a joint initiative between 12 of Edinburgh’s annually held festivals has announced the agencies it has appointed to handle its marketing communications following an intensive pitch process.

Family has been tasked with driving the integrated communications campaign for the new brand, which was designed by The Leith Agency before the new year, while Burt Greener Communications will handle the PR communications.

The marketing strategy for Edinburgh Festivals follows more than a year’s research and planning across marketing personnel, directors and CEOs from the Festivals, headed up by Leithal Thinking.

The project will develop new approaches to collaborative and cross-organisational marketing - regionally, nationally and internationally, drawing on the vision, expertise and leadership of all 12 member festivals.

Family won a two way pitch against The Leith Agency and will now implement an integrated campaign to support both brand awareness and response generation objectives.

Burt Greener Communications was selected following a three-way pitch and will now work with the Edinburgh Festivals to deliver a campaign that includes the development of broadcast, media relations and destination marketing strategies across the UK and internationally.

Martin Reynolds, head of marketing at Festivals Edinburgh, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome both agencies on board. Both pitches were of exceptionally high quality, grasping the full potential of bringing 12 festivals together to target new markets, explore new channels and develop new relationships. We look forward to working with them on our 2009 campaigns and beyond.'
