Former Ocean Media group managing director David Moran is to join independent sales company Media Sales Network (MSN) as a non-executive director.

Moran, who recently sold his stake in Ocean Media Group, will sit on MSN’s board. He will be working with MSN’s director of media Angela Wilkinson in developing services for clients, which include Bauer Advertising, AA Publishing and Glam Media, and particularly targeting new business.

Moran is a prominent figure in publishing. He specialises in growing media businesses and most recently bought out Trinity Mirror’s events and magazine business as Ocean Media increased profits by 30%. He sold the business for £105m in 2007.

Mike Davis, chairman of MSN, said: “I am delighted that David has agreed to join the board of MSN and contribute to our plans with his considerable experience of our sector and in growing media companies.”

Angela Wilkinson, added: “David clearly has a great passion for selling in our sector and I am looking forward to working with him to develop our services for both our existing and new clients.”

Moran said: “I have watched MSN for some time – it is a very successful and profitable business that everyone in media knows but is seriously underestimated. This is a fantastic time to be in a business that offers media owners the chance to take high fixed sales costs and change them overnight to a variable cost and grow their sales without losing revenue.

“We intend to grow MSN both organically and by acquisition and we are fortunate to have the staff, management and resources to make it happen.”
