Woodcare firm Ronseal has appointed Lucre to handle its consumer public relations activity.

The appointment of Leeds-based Lucre follows the agency's completion of a campaign for the launch of Ronseal's Eco range.

Lucre will take responsibility for the PR account across Ronseal's entire range of woodcare products for the home and garden. Activity will focus on key trading periods, particularly pre-summer.

James Smith, marketing director at Ronseal, said: "2009 will be a challenging year for all of us and with the housing market being pretty stagnant at the moment many people are choosing to improve their homes rather than trying to move."

A host of new Ronseal products are expected to be announced this year, including further development of the Eco range.

Lucre's campaign for the Eco range last year included a search for the UK's worst pub beer garden and its subsequent makeover by celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock.
