Edinburgh-based Realise has been appointed by the UK’s second largest gas distribution company, Scotia Gas Networks (SGN), to plan and design the redevelopment of its website.

The aim of the new site is to increase the commercial potential of SGN’s online presence as well as enhancing the interaction with its 5.7 million customers.

Having won the contract following a competitive pitch, Realise is now beginning the first stage of the re-design. Realise is working with usability partner, The Usability Labs, to undertake a programme of research and analysis which will define then test the information architecture and user experience. Realise will then create the new look and feel.

Fiona Proudler, creative services director at Realise, said: “We welcome the opportunity to work with a client that believes in taking a truly user-centric approach, looking in depth at the needs and behaviours of their customers and stakeholders.

“Working with The Usability Labs this means identifying personas, establishing user needs and creating, and testing, the more effective information architecture. Then, from a creative perspective we can produce a design that supports the brand and which resonates with each and every user.”

Commenting on Realise’s appointment, Jo Kenyon, SGN eBusiness Solutions Manager, added: “We were impressed both by Realise’s thoroughness when looking at all the elements of the new site and by their flexibility. They showed a real interest in our business and above all else we felt we could work well with their team.”
