Direct digital agency Cheeze has appointed Mike Groves to the position of client services director - a role previously held by Matt O'Brien, who was made MD of the agency last year.

Groves joins Cheeze - which has offices in Ipswich and London - from full service agency Digivate, based in the capital, where he was head of online marketing. He brings 10 years' online marketing experience from agency and client-side roles.

He had a three-year spell as a director at full-service agency Blue Edged Media and prior to Digivate, Groves was marketing director at London Scottish Broking, where he oversaw online marketing.

Groves started his digital marketing career in 1999 at Citrus, where as new media account director he launched the agency's new media offer and spent three years managing and developing accounts including More Th>n.

He will report to O'Brien and head up the account teams working across the agency's clients, which include AXA, BUPA, Canterbury of New Zealand and recent additions Exclaimer and ReD.

O'Brien said: "After what was a great year with some solid client wins, bringing Mike on board now is key to managing that growth to ensure that we're able to continue delivering the very best service for our clients.

"Mike's first-class digital marketing pedigree and great mix of senior level agency and client-side experience makes him a very valuable addition to the team."
