Finn Communications has bolstered its Leeds team with two appointments from local rival PR firm Ptarmigan.

James Newman has joined as an account director, after previously managing the Diageo and Virgin Media accounts at Ptarmigan. Colleague Julia Round has also made the switch between the Leeds agencies and has taken up the role of senior account executive.

The nine-strong agency celebrated client wins for Precious Monkey Jewellery, Scrummie puddings - part of the Northern Foods group - R&R ice creams, The Miniature Bakery Company and Yorkshire Bank in 2008.

Richard Rawlins, managing director at Finn, said: “It’s very exciting to welcome James and Julia on board. We’ve had a really exciting year, with some significant new business wins. James and Julia will help to look after those clients and continue to drive the growth of the agency.”

Newman added: “Finn is an exciting, innovative agency which totally understands the commercial pressures of clients’ businesses and the rapidly changing face of today’s public relations challenges and opportunities. It has an enviable client list and I’m looking forward to working with the team to deliver some outstanding results.”

Newman will manage the agency's Cadbury's, Lotus, Nouvelle, Yorkshire Bank and Realm accounts while Round will work on Precious Monkey, Scrummie, Cadbury's, The Miniature Bakery Company and Pork Farms.
